Job Summary
The Director of Finance - South Region is responsible for supporting the monthly close process and training and development of staff. Additionally, this manager will be responsible for the establishment and oversight of procedures and reconciliations related to inventory.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead an effective and comprehensive process for all accounting functions, reconciliations and month end close.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual management reporting process
- Lead general ledger month-end close to ensure the team prepares journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations by set deadlines
- Review of monthly financial results and analysis of profit and loss on an entity and consolidated basis
- Assist in creating and documenting new and efficient processes related to recording journal entries and performing meaningful and detailed account reconciliations
- Ensure all accounting complies with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting guidelines
- Consolidate entries and prepare rollforwards to be utilized in preparing financial statements
- Communicate and explain accounting issues and evolving accounting guidance to management
- Establishes business requirements for system implementations and or enhancements. Proactively engage with key stakeholders on system and procedure enhancements, ensuring overall communication across the business, focused specific meetings and written communications
- Provides inputs for budget planning and goal setting, and monitors fiscal performance to plan
- Implements a system of appropriate controls to manage business risks and maintains responsibility for the fiscal integrity of all financial reporting and operations.
- Determines staffing needs based on short and long-term business goals. Establishes an ethical and collegial work environment, promoting a collaborative, accountable and inclusive team aligned with the business’ vision, values and priorities
- Train, coach and develop skills of staff accountants
- Provide support and assistance to external auditors
- Perform other duties as assigned
Specific Assignments:
- Establish accounting practices related to the proper recording and reconciliation of the company’s inventory across its various cultivation and retail locations
- Document and maintain policies and procedures for tracking inventory in each state of operation
- Act as the Finance team’s primary contact to communicate with internal and external parties regarding all inventory related systems and processes improvements/implementations
- Coordinate with cultivation facility general managers and outside consulting firm to prepare, review and record the quarterly inventory valuation
- Prepare internal reports on inventory analysis and other variances throughout the month as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in accounting or finance required
- 6-10 year(s) of corporate accounting experience required
- Management experience required
- Microsoft Office, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel (advanced), experience required
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC, and/or IFRS rules and regulations required
- Strong ability to influence appropriate operational counterparts to timely closeout of normal costing duties
- Must have ability to research and propose company positions on complex accounting issues
- Must be able to execute and follow through to completion and documentation
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must be able to pass a state and federal criminal background check
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation is a plus
- Direct experience in CPG or manufacturing (inventory experience) is a plus
- Specific industry experience is a plus
- SAP, Blackline platform experience is a plus
