Job Summary

The IPM Technician is responsible for daily hands-on execution of pest, pathogen, and disease control protocols across all cultivation areas and plant stages. This position conducts pesticide applications, scouting, sanitation, and recordkeeping in accordance with SOPs and compliance standards. The IPM Technician ensures safe, consistent, and compliant field operations, supporting plant health and the effectiveness of the IPM program.

This is a full-time position at $17/hr 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Execute all daily IPM activities, including pesticide and fungicide applications, biological controls, sanitation, and equipment checks, following all SOPs and label requirements.
  • Perform comprehensive scouting and plant health inspections across propagation, veg, and flower; document pest, pathogen, and environmental concerns.
  • Support foliar and root sampling, pre-harvest inspections, and environmental monitoring as scheduled.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for all IPM activities, including application logs, scouting reports, barcode health tracking, and equipment use.
  • Operate, clean, and calibrate spray and diagnostic equipment; report malfunctions or maintenance needs to the IPM Lead or Manager.
  • Model proper application techniques and PPE usage, reinforcing safety and SOP adherence among peers.
  • Assist with onboarding and peer support for new Technicians as directed by the Lead or Manager.
  • Relay daily task progress and plant health insights to the IPM Lead and Manager for scheduling and prioritization.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of all IPM-specific areas, including chemical storage, PPE stations, tools, and work zones.
  • Support the team in remaining inspection-ready by upholding documentation standards and safety compliance.
  • Apply Restricted Use Pesticides (RUPs) under supervision and in compliance with state licensing requirements and safety regulations.
  • Utilize internal systems such as Excel, Biotrack, or seed-to-sale software for task tracking and data entry.
  • Provide feedback to the Lead or Manager on conditions, process improvements, or team challenges.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months of experience in cannabis IPM, cultivation, or greenhouse/agricultural pest control.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to follow instructions and accurately document activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Biotrack or seed-to-sale software.
  • Clean-shaven and able to pass a full-face respirator fit test; willing to work in PPE for extended durations.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders/scaffolding, and working in hot/humid conditions.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older and authorized to work in the United States.
  • Compliance with all state and local laws and company policies is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Private Applicator License in progress or completed.
  • Experience mentoring peers or supporting onboarding.
  • Familiarity with plant pathology, pest trends, and diagnostic tools (microscopes, sample kits).
  • Exposure to regulated cultivation workflows, audits, or continuous improvement systems.

Physical and Mental Demands

This role requires standing, bending, walking, and using hands for equipment operation and data entry. Must be comfortable with high humidity, pollen, and repetitive tasks. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while maintaining focus on precision and safety. The employee must occasionally move packages weighing up to 50 lb. Able to stand for 90% of the time. Comfortable with heights, ladders, and scaffolding, and with changing environmental temperatures and humidity. Specific vision abilities required include close observation and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment

Work is performed in indoor grow environments and support areas. Exposure to noise, moving equipment, and electrical components may occur. Environmental conditions may include warm temperatures, wet surfaces, and strong smells from pesticides or plants. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
