Job Summary
The IT Financial Systems Director is responsible for the project execution, delivery, and operational support of SAP-related initiatives across the enterprise. This role ensures the successful implementation of SAP projects and the stability, scalability, and performance of SAP applications post-go-live. The Director will lead the lifecycle of SAP enhancements—from planning and rollout to support and continuous improvement—while coordinating across functional business areas such as supply chain, operations, finance, and procurement. A strong mix of project leadership and production support experience is required, with an emphasis on delivery excellence and operational continuity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee and drive the strategic roadmap and end-to-end delivery of SAP projects and enhancements, ensuring alignment with enterprise business objectives and IT strategy.
- Provide executive oversight of SAP application support functions to ensure stable, secure, and responsive operations, including incident management, change requests, and service-level adherence.
- Lead planning, execution, and transition activities for major SAP programs such as S/4HANA migrations, global rollouts, cloud integrations, and adoption of SAP BTP.
- Act as a key liaison between business executives and SAP technical teams to translate strategic priorities into actionable solutions and support user adoption initiatives.
- Establish and enforce robust governance frameworks, including change control, release management, compliance protocols, and standardized support processes.
- Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence by proactively identifying inefficiencies, optimizing processes, and managing strategic SAP improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate and align cross-functional teams (IT, business, compliance, audit) to ensure delivery quality, business continuity, and post-go-live performance.
- Manage and mentor a hybrid team of internal staff, external consultants, offshore support teams, and SAP managed services partners.
- Develop and track delivery KPIs, operational SLAs, and business value metrics to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards (e.g., SOX, FDA, GDPR), maintaining audit readiness and operational integrity.
- Provide regular executive-level updates on project delivery, operational performance, support trends, and risk mitigation measures.
- Serve as the ultimate escalation point for critical SAP production incidents impacting business continuity.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field required; advanced degree (MBA or MS in Technology Management) preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive IT experience, including at least 5 years in executive or senior leadership roles overseeing SAP delivery and support functions.
- Proven track record of leading SAP solution delivery and post-implementation support within mid-to-large global organizations.
- Deep functional and technical expertise in SAP platforms, including S/4HANA, and modules such as SD, MM, PP, FI/CO; experience with SAP Ariba, SuccessFactors, and BTP is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience leading direct and indirect teams comprising business analysts, IT engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- PMP, SAP Activate, or equivalent project management certification required; ITIL certification strongly preferred.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and vendor management skills, with executive presence and the ability to influence C-level stakeholders.
- Proficiency with project and portfolio management tools such as Microsoft Project, Monday.com, or Jira.
- Proven ability to balance complex project delivery demands with operational excellence in dynamic and high-growth environments.
