Job Summary

The Chemist is responsible for working with lab staff to provide timely and accurate analytical data used for production, research, and development. Supports day-to-day activities and maintenance of equipment in the laboratory.

This position is located in our Rocky Hill (CTPharma) facility. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sample preparation and testing using analytical instrumentation including but not limited to UPLC, HPLC, GCMS and qPCR.  
  • Microbiological sampling and testing.  
  • Calculates formulation requirements.  
  • Sample requisition, inventory, and tracking.  
  • Following company SOPs on sampling, handling, documentation, and distribution.  
  • Assist in collaboration and interaction with third-party testing labs.  
  • Assist in formulation and R&D as directed by the Lab Manager.  
  • Data collection, analysis, and distribution.  
  • Maintenance of laboratory equipment and environment.  
  • Ensuring laboratory safety protocols are always followed.  
  • Updates job knowledge by remaining aware of new regulations, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry required.  
  • Familiarity with Liquid and Gas Chromatography.  
  • Proficiency with standard analytical lab equipment: Balances, Micropipettes, Ultrasonic mixer, Centrifuge, Autoclave, Fume Hoods.  
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manager time.  
  • Strong work ethic and willing to go above and beyond to ensure project success. 
  • Must be 21 years of age or older and able to successfully register with the state’s cannabis commission as an agent. 
  • Must comply with all laws, regulations, and policies associated with the industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a highly regulated analytical laboratory. 
  • Experience working within a commercial cannabis lab.

 

Verano Base Pay Range

$48k-$55k

Actual pay is based on experience, qualifications, and location of the role. Roles may be eligible for annual bonus program based on individual and company performance.

Physical and Mental Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position, move and/or position oneself, communicate, operate and/or prepare, place, position objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally move packages weighing up to 25 lb. Able to stand for 90% of the time. Comfortable with heights, occasionally ascends/descends a ladder to service the lights, filters, trellis netting and ceiling fans up to 25ft. Comfortable working atop and traversing scaffolding, when required. Comfortable with changing environment temperatures and humidity. Exposure to pollen, dust, dander, and other nature elements. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close observation and the ability to adjust focus. Working Environment

Work is performed in a warehouse environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
